The next meeting of memogate commission is scheduled to be held on February 22, wherein the commission will record Ijaz's testimony via video conference. Earlier this month, Ijaz refused to appear before the commission due to security concerns and requested the court to appoint a local commissioner to record his statement abroad.

Our reporter from Islamabad adds: The judicial commission investigating the raging memogate scandal is all set to record the statement of controversial Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz via video link on February 22, as lawyers of both the parties have left for UK.

Lawyers representing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif and former ambassador of Pakistan to US Hussain Haqqani in the memo scandal will be present in the Pakistan High Commission in UK for cross examination of Mansoor Injaz.

Advocate Mustafa Ramday and Rashid A Rizvi, the lawyers of Nawaz Sharif had left for UK on Friday, the counsels for Hussain Haqqani including Rana Akram and Ali Bokhari left on Saturday. Mansoor Ijaz, the main character in the memogate scandal had failed to appear before the three-member judicial commission, headed by chief justice Balochistan High Court Justice Qazi Faez Isa, for testifying, citing security reasons.

Last time on February 10, Ijaz was scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court-appointed commission, but skipped the crucial hearing.

Haqqani was forced to resign after Ijaz made public a memo allegedly written by Haqqani seeking US help to stave off a feared military coup in Pakistan after the killing of Osama bin Laden in May last year.
