Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Friday said nationalists wanted to pit people against one another. Addressing a huge public rally in Sukkur, he said people's participation in huge numbers is a referendum against the division of Sindh.

He said that his party wants to eradicate feudalism from the country. "The era of feudalism will soon come to an end in Sindh," he added. According to him, his party played the most important role towards efforts aimed at obtaining an enhanced size of Sindh in the 7th NFC Award. Praising MQM's services, he said that his party presented the bill for the rights of Karachiites in National Assembly.

During his telephonic speech from London, he said that MQM stopped the controversial Kala Bagh Dam. Hussain condemned incidents of sectarian killings in Karachi. Altaf Hussain urged Sindhi and Urdu speaking people to come closer bridging the gaps. He said there is no old or new Sindhi here as all the people living in this province are Sindhis. The MQM Chief called for resolving Balochistan issue amicably and restoring peace in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

He urged the government to bring the killers of citizens to justice and protect the life of lawyers and the people. He also raised the civic issues of Sukkur saying half of the population of this city has been deprived of potable water and added that the citizens are made to get water through tankers.

The MQM organised a rally amid severe criticism from Sindhi nationalists after it tabled 20th amendment bill in the National Assembly, demanding formation of new province in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunnkwa. The nationalists say the MQM wants to pave the way for carving out a province in Sindh through the constitutional amendment while the MQM has been denying the allegations. Party workers reached from various cities including Ghotki, Khairpur, Noshero Feroze, Nawabshah, Larkana, Shikarpur, Jaccobabad and Kashmore.
