Finance Minister Hafeez Sheikh on Thursday briefed the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) on the current economic situation, the impact of the US aid suspension and Nato supply via Pakistan. The economic team led by Hafeez, briefed the PCNS about the current economic situation, besides sharing details of the expenditure occurred in war on terror hitherto.

The committee members also presented their suggestions in the light of briefing given by the finance minister. Chairman PCNS, Senator Rabbani while talking to media after the meeting, said that the committee would have final meeting with the foreign minister and the defence minister or defence secretary on Tuesday, January 10, so that the draft of the recommendations would be given final shape for submission to the prime minister and afterwards to the joint sitting fn the Parliament.

He said that all the recommendations would be finalised keeping in view the interests of the country and priorities of the security, adding that the committee would incorporate all the facts into its recommendations. Senators Wasim Sajjad, Babar Awan, Ishaq Dar and Members of the National Assembly, Munir Khan Orakzai, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and Syed Haider Abbass Rizvi also attended the meeting.
