The Federal Board of Revenue and the Sindh Revenue Board have agreed to keep the sales tax registered persons in the "Active Taxpayer List" especially those who are purely providing services in Sindh and filing sales tax return at the web-portal of the SRB.

Sources told Business Recorder here on Friday that under the arrangement agreed between the FBR and SRB, the electronic image of the sales tax returns filed with the SRB will be made available to the FBR. These return filers with the SRB will be considered as filers in the FBR IT system. Hence, they will not be removed from the "Active Taxpayer List" if they continue to file returns in a timely manner.

Before the decision, all such taxpayers were shown as "Non-Active" in the FBR web portal and the persons seeking services from those registered persons who have only filed returns at the SRB Web Portal were not able to get the input credit while filing the returns with the FBR.

Now, such taxpayers would be able to obtain tax credit of services obtained from the service provides operating in the Sindh province as well. Sources added that it is a positive step, which will facilitate the registered persons of both the SRB and the FBR in filing their returns and getting the input tax credit without any problem.
