Provincial President, PPP, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Senator Sardar Ali Khan paid rich tributes to the sacrifices of the Bhutto family and Begum Nusrat Bhutto for the strengthening of democracy in Pakistan. He was addressing a condolence reference and Qur'aan Khwani held for the Mother-e-Jamhorriat and former co-chairperson PPP, Begum Nusrat Bhutto here at his residence Zar Bagh on Saturday.

He also paid tributes to PPP workers and different wings of the Party for exhibiting their association and love with Bhutto family and attended the Qur'aan Khwani with religious fervour. Through the condolence reference and Qur'aan Khwani, he said they pledged that they will follow in the footprints of the Bhutto family in the struggle for the strengthening of democracy in the country. He said that Begum Nusrat Bhutto came out all alone against the authoritarian military regime and fought the historic battle for the restoration of democracy in South Asia.

The movement waged by the mother and daughter later in the name of the Movement for Restoration of Democracy (MRD) turned into a nation-wide struggle for the restoration of democracy in the country. The civilised nations of the world, he said were surprised over this struggle of bravery by the mother and daughter and at last defeated the military dictator and Pakistan stood as responsible state on the world map through a democratic struggle.

Begum Nusrat Bhutto, he said, borne numerous difficulties, but never compromised on her principles and united the Party in difficult and challengeable circumstances. He said that Bhutto family members sacrificed their lives for the strengthening, stability of Pakistan and making it a nuclear power. He said that the sacrifices of the Bhutto family will be written in golden words in history.

The death anniversary of the Mother-e-Jamhorriat, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, he said will be commemorated with religious fervour and respect every year. Begum Nusrat Bhutto, he said through her sacrifices she put the people of Pakistan on the direction of democracy.

Those who attended were included Speaker, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Kiramatullah Khan, Federal Minister for Communications, Arbab Alamgir Khan, former provincial president, and Health Minister, Syed Zahir Ali Shah, Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Liaquat Shabab, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Petroleum, Engineer Mohammad Tariq Khattak, Provincial Minister for Population Welfare, Saleem Khan, MNA, Noor Alam Khan, MPAs, Malik Tehmash Khan, Prince Javed, former district nazim, Peshawar, Azam Khan Afridi, president, PPP, Peshawar city, Ayub Shah, Zulfikar Afghani, Mir Haider Khan, Haji Shaukat Khan, Haji Mohammad Sharif, Khawaja Yawar Naseer, Syed Tahir Abbass, Haji Hameed Khan Afridi, Mirza Khan Jehadi, president, PPP district Peshawar, Israr Khan Nehqi, Malik Ghulam Hazrat, Khanimullah Khan, Mohammad Naeem Khan Omarzai and a large number of PPP workers from districts Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda attended. Qur'aan Khwani for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Begum Nusrat Bhutto has also been held in D.I. Khan, Bannu, Kohat and Hazara Division while the Saturday Qur'aan Khwani was last programme of the series in this regard.
