WASHINGTON: Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh met here with the President of Asian Development Bank, Haruhiko Kuroda, and discussed possibility of financing projects, including Diamer-Basha dam. They discussed various aspects of co-operation, including the ongoing and new projects in the country and the region being funded by the Bank.

President Kuroda assured te Bank's full support for Pakistan's economic development and various projects. The two officials also discussed possible financing for Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (Tapi) gas pipeline project and Diamer-Basha dam which Pakistan plans to build in the north of the country, both as a source of power generation and water reservoir. Dr Shaikh appreciated ADB's support for economic development of Pakistan over the years.
