The Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Dr Asim Hussain, has decided to reconstitute the Board of Directors (BoDs) of the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) and Pakistan Mineral Development Company (PMDC), sources told this correspondent. The BoD of OGDC consists of 12 individuals, including parliamentarians, representatives from private sector and government officials.

The PMDC BoD consists of several directors, and a managing director supervises the activities of the corporation. The board is headed by the Chairman, who is the highest authority, and is appointed directly by the Prime Minister. Asim has directed relevant officials to make a list of the directors at OGDC and PMDC who have completed their tenure.

The Minister was informed that PMDC's board members were holding 4-monthly meetings with little outcome with the objective of accessing the Rs 100,000 travelling allowance (TA). Nasir Baig is the current Chairman of PMDC and was appointed in 2010 by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. He is a member of Pakistan People's Party and was a federal minister in Benazir Bhutto's second tenure.

OGDC Board consists of Ejaz Chaudhry, present Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Senator Wali Muhammad Badini, Ahmed Bakhsh Lehri, currently serving Government of Balochistan as Chief Secretary, Dr Qaiser Bengali former Advisor to the Sindh Chief Minister on Planning and Development, Fhad Shaikh, Director of National Institute of Facilitation Technologies, Wasim A. Zuberi, Amir Ali Shah present Member of the National Assembly, Tariq Faruque, Executive Director of Mirpurkhas Sugar Mills Ltd, Basharat Mirza Acting MD/CEO of OGDC, Abid Saeed, Additional Secretary, Federal Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resource, Raashid Bashir Mazari, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources and Masieh-ul-Islam.
