President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday expressed satisfaction that all concerned agencies of the government were cognisant of the need to implement the verdict of the Supreme Court about law and order situation in Karachi and said that some measures had already been taken.

Spokesperson to President, Farhatullah Babar, said that a meeting was held in the Presidency to brief the President on the steps being taken to implement the Supreme Court's judgement in a suo motu case about the law and order situation in Karachi.

He said that the meeting was specially convened by the President to apprise himself of the steps that had so far been taken for the implementation of the verdict. Sindh Chief Minister briefed the meeting on the steps taken by the provincial government for the implementation of the verdict and the steps that would be further taken.

The meeting was attended, among others, by Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ibad Khan, Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq, Dr Babar Awan, Law Minister Sindh Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Home Minister Sindh Manzoor Hussain Wassan and Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Abbas. Farhat said that the Supreme Court announced the 156-page verdict in the case on Thursday.
