Pakistan and Kazakhstan on Wednesday agreed to enhance bilateral trade and facilitate their businessmen to promote investment in diverse areas. Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani along with his Kazakh counterpart Karim Massimov witnessed the signing of the agreement at the Government House after the two leaders met and also co-chaired the delegation-level talks.

The agreement aims at promoting market research, developing commercial relations and expanding projects between the two countries that will promote trade and enhance economic and technical co-operation. Later, FPCCI President Senator Ghulam Ali told newsmen that the agreement signed between Pakistan and Kazakhstan would encourage regular exchange of their business delegations which would remove the hurdles in bilateral trade.

He said the interaction of businessmen would also pave way to start negotiations on relaxing visa regime for the promotion of bilateral trade. He said there was a need to exploit potential of trade between Pakistan and Kazakhstan which was not up to the mark at present and expressed the hope that the agreement would prove a positive step in increasing the level of existing trade.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister for Production Anwar Ali Cheema, Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khosa, Senator Ghulam Ali (JUI), MNA Qamar Zaman Kaira, Secretary Defence Lieutenant General (Retd) Syed Athar Ali, Ambassador Akhtar Tufail and businessman Faisal Ahmad.
