Foreign secretary level talks between Pakistan and India will be held on June 23-24, 2011 in Islamabad to discuss peace and security, including confidence building measures (CBMs), Jammu & Kashmir, and promotion of friendly exchanges, said Foreign Office here on Friday.

New Delhi is pressing Islamabad to discuss the new dossier of the Mumbai incident during Pakistan Foreign Secretary, Salman Bashir talks with his Indian counterpart, Nirupama Rao. However, Foreign Office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua told media persons on Friday that the new Indian dossier was not part of the agreed agenda.

According to Foreign Office the foreign secretaries of the two countries would discuss peace and security, including CBMs, Jammu & Kashmir and promotion of friendly exchanges during the talks. Meanwhile, Pakistan lodged a protest with Indian government through the Indian High Commission in Islamabad on a serious incident on June 16, 2011 in which Indian Navy Ship Godavari not only hampered humanitarian operations being carried out by Pakistan Navy Ship Babur for Merchant Vessel Suez, but also undertook dangerous manoeuvres, which resulted in the brushing of the sides of INS Godavari and PNS Babur.

PNS Babur was escorting and assisting MV Suez, which was released after captivity by Somali pirates. "This incident constitutes a serious violation of international regulations pertaining to safe conduct at high seas and of the India-Pakistan Agreement of 1991 on Advance Notice of Military Exercise Manoeuvres and Troops Movements", said the Foreign Office in a separate statement. The Indian government has been asked to ensure non-recurrence of such incidents, the statement added.
