The General Headquarters (GHQ) has issued posting out notification to Major General Ijaz Chaudhry, Director General Pakistan Rangers, Sindh on Tuesday. In a statement, army spokesman said," In compliance with Supreme Court orders, Major General Ijaz Chaudhry, DG Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) has been posted out". The DG has been removed following killing of a youth Sarfaraz Shah by rangers in Karachi and will be transferred to another department.

Earlier, a notification to remove IGP Sindh was issued by Establishment Division, directing him to report to the federal government. The Supreme Court of Pakistan took suo motu notice of the killing of Sarfaraz Shah by rangers in Karachi on Wednesday June 8, 2011.

The accused in the case are under trial of an anti-terrorism court (ATC) and if convicted could face life in prison or death penalty. The SC also had ordered to remove DG Rangers Major General Ejaz Chaudhry and IGP Sindh Police Fayyaz Laghari, while six Rangers and seven others involved in the extra-judicial killing were remanded into police custody for 15 days.
