At least seven persons including activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and member of Peoples Amn Committee (PAC) were killed in separate incidents of targeted killing at various parts of the metropolis on Monday. According to details, two persons including an activist of MQM were gunned down, while two others injured within the limits of PIB police station.

Police said unidentified armed men reached on car and opened indiscriminate firing on Noor hotel located in the limits of PIB police station. Resultantly 50-year-old Mateen son of Abdul Aleem, 30-year-old Sanaullah son of Aman, Salahuddin, 38 and a passer by Sajid received bullet wounds.

Police shifted all injures to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Mateen and Sanaullah succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Police said the victim Mateen, a resident of the same area, used to run a carom board shop in the same area.

Following the incident, tension gripped the area and its other surroundings as miscreants resorted to heavy gunshots and forced shopkeepers to pull down their shutters. Police said the victim Mateen, was an activist of MQM. No case was registered till filing of this report. An activist of People Amn Committee was shot dead at Bakra Piri. The victim 35-year-old Zahid Magsi, who was going along with his nephew in rickshaw, was targeted by unknown assailants. Resultantly, both victims received multiple bullets and died on the spot. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities.

After few hours of Zahid's killing, four armed men riding on two motorcycles opened firing on car (AJJ-125) in Mewa Shah graveyard. Resultantly a 40-year-old Abdul Latif died on the spot and his cousin Razia received bullet injuries. Police said the victim, who was the cousin of Zahid Magsi, was targeted while on the way to home after attending Zahid's funeral process. In another incident, a transporter was shot dead near Universal Company Korangi in the limits of Korangi Industrial Area police station. A former councillor of PPP was killed in Sango Lane Lyari in the jurisdiction of Chakiwara police station.
