Ten people, including a woman and two children, were killed and 29 others injured on Wednesday morning in a car bomb explosion in Tela Band, Badber, a suburban locality of Peshawar. The explosives-laden car was parked near old police station in Tela Band area of Badber, some nine km south-east of here. The car blast killed two minors, a woman and five other persons on the spot while injured 15 others.

According to sources in Lady Reading Hospital, out of 29 injured, four were in critical condition. After the blast the officials of the security forces cordoned off the area and started search operation against the suspects responsible for the blast. The officials of 'Rescue 1122' and Edhi ambulances rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.

There were also reports that a building near the site of the blast had collapsed. Emergency was declared in the hospitals of provincial metropolis. Those killed in the explosion have been identified as Ayaz son of Mumtaz, Yaseen son of Rehmat Khan, Arsalan son of Rehmat, Dad Muhammad, Faqir Hussain son of Ghulam Nabi, Khadija wife of Hassan Khan, Wahidullah son of Ahmad Ali, and Bilal son of Naimatullah. While identity of one person could not be ascertained.

The injured included Saeed son of Muhammad Khan (8), Rahmata wife of Bilal, Farida daughter of Shah Muhammad, Nazia daughter of Sher Muhammad, Asia daughter of Yousaf Khan, Izhar son of Zahir, Zahid son of Muhammad Agha, Muhammad Gul son of Sahar Gul, Taj Muhammad son of Namoos Khan, Bacha Gul son of Muhammad Ali, Zar Muhammad son of Barkat Shah, Itbar Khan son of Yousaf Khan, Wahidullah son of Ahmad Ali, Namus Khan son of Saeed Jan, Amjid son of Jamal, Qamar Zaman son of Muhammad Marjan, Khan Muhammad son of Mian Ali, Muhammad Shahid son of Javid Gul, Sultan son of Tajbar, Hidayatullah son of Munib Khan, and Hazargul son of Basta Gul.

Prime Minister Gilani and KP Acting Governor Kiramatullah Khan strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Badber. The Prime Minister reiterated the government's resolve to fight terrorism at all costs. The prime minister said that such brutal acts of violence cannot shatter the determination of the people of Pakistan to fight this menace. He prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved families. The Prime Minister asked the provincial government to ensure proper medical care for the injured.
