The deceased was associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and was an active member of Muttahida Organising Committee, Karachi. After the incident, the LEAs cordoned off the area and arrested two criminals on charges of killing Badshah. However, police and Rangers refused to confirm the arrest. Meanwhile, the death toll in the ongoing targeted killings spree rose to 27 on Saturday.
Most of the incidents occurred in Orangi Town, Banaras and Qasba Colony. Due to fear, trade activities in these areas have completely stopped. Although police and Rangers have started patrolling and snap checking in these areas, the law and order situation is uncertain.
In another incident, a woman was found dead in Surjani Town. The Surjani police said the body of a woman, stuffed in a gunny bag was found in the bushes near Angel School, Sector 4-B area. The slaughtered body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. The victim was stated to be in her mid-20 and her identity is yet to be ascertained.
A rickshaw driver was killed late Friday in an armed attack in Pak Colony. Pak Colony police said that Taj Mohammad Khan a rickshaw driver was targeted by unidentified armed attackers near Rashid Flour Mill at Manghopir Road. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy. Meanwhile, Rangers and police arrested 16 suspects in a joint search operation launched at different areas of Karachi.
According to the police sources, at least 16 people were detained in a joint search operation. When contacted, SP Orangi Town told BR that the operation was launched on a tip-off, which revealed the presence of target killers in the area. He said the LEAs have made several arrests and recovered huge cache of arms from their possession.
APP adds: Badshah Khan was laid to eternal rest at Fareed Colony graveyard at Orangi Town here on Saturday. Earlier, the namaz-e-janaza of the ex-naib nazim was offered after Asr prayer at KMC Ground near 100 Quarters, Gulshan-e-Ghazi, Baldia Town here, said a statement issued by MQM.
