Syed Munawwar Hassan, Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) has demanded immediate release of Baloch leader Shahzain Bugti, and his colleagues in order to avoid worsening of the Baluchistan situation. He stressed upon the rulers and the armed forces to realise that the Baluchistan situation could not improve through such measures. He also demanded judicial enquiry into the facts leading to Shahzain's arrest.

The JI Ameer advised the government to adopt political strategy and the path of understanding in Baluchistan, let them have a feeling of being given equal treatment and accept their rights on the resources of the province.

The Baluchistan people, he said, were already aggrieved and had genuine complaints against the centre and the army and the Nawab Akbar Bugti's assassination was still alive in their memory, and the arrest of Akbar Bugti's grand son in such a manner could further deteriorate the situation. The Baloch had the feelings of being denied equal citizens. Currently, 5th military operation was going on in that province, the Baloch people were being abducted and subsequently, their dead bodies were discovered. The missing people also included Baloch women, which was most shameful. As a consequence of such a policy, the national anthem was not being played throughout Baluchistan, he added.

Munawwar Hassan, said the present rulers who claimed to be democratic, should stop the use of force against their own people as it had never helped solve problems.
