Delhi Police have booked veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Geelani, the Booker Prize winner and noted Indian social activist, Arundhati Roy, and others, on alleged charges of sedition for their speech at a seminar on Kashmir in Delhi last month.

The filing of the FIR came following a directive from a local court on Saturday on a petition filed by a person associated with Bhartiya Janata Party, Sushil Pandit, on October 28 at Tilak Marg police station, Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported.

Geelani and Arundhati had shared the dais with Maoist sympathiser Vara Vara, Delhi University Professor Abdul Rehman Geelani, Jammu and Kashmir University Professor Showkat Hussain, Shuddharbrata Sengupta, Sujato Bhadra and others, during the seminar titled 'Azadi-the only way' on October 21. The maximum punishment for the offence, if convicted, is life imprisonment.
