During the meeting they discussed the situation after change of command of Nato is Afghanistan. They exchanged views over the situation of regional stability, the anti-terrorism campaign and the presence of militants in tribal areas, especially in North Waziristan, sources said.
The upcoming parliamentary elections of Afghanistan and the policy of dialogue with Taliban were also discussed in the meeting. General Kayani acknowledged the appointment of General David Petraeus as commander of foreign forces in Afghanistan. In another meeting the US envoy Anne W Patterson held a detailed meeting with General Kayani.
The meeting was focused over the schedule of the Pak-US strategic dialogue especially the talks over co-operation in defence, security and related fields, sources said. The US Ambassador and General Kayani also talked about the next week Pakistan visit of the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, co-operation in the anti-terror war and the role of Pakistan Army in fight against terrorism. Patterson also discussed the repercussions of the change in ISAF command in Afghanistan.
