Soon after the explosion volunteer started relief activities and evacuation of the bodies from the debris of the destroyed buildings. The injured were rushed to Shaqadar and Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar for treatment, where emergency was declared. According to eye-witnesses the blast was carried out when there was rush of the visitors and more than 150 persons were present in the compound.
Political Agent, Amjad Ali Khan has confirmed the killing of 56 and wounding of 104 persons in the blast. In victims 4 personnel of the traditional Khasadar Force of the agency were also included. The explosion also damaged the nearby building of the prison of political administration and taking benefit of the situation some prisoners escaped.
Four bodies and about 65 wounded persons shifted to LRH Peshawar after provision of initial treatment at tehsil headquarters hospital, Shabqadar. The Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Owais Ahmed Ghani has strongly condemned the suicide attack in Yekka Ghund, Mohmand Agency on Friday morning terming it "a shameful terrorist act against innocent people" and saying, "this cowardly attack has exposed the true face of those terrorists, who were brutal, savage and anti-Islam.
In a statement issued here on Friday, the Governor said that the perpetrator were those who had no regard for humanity and religion and killed scores of innocent people on the sacred occasion of celebration of Meraj-Un-Nabi (PBUH) and on the holy day of Friday.
The Governor said that this blatant act of terror and tyranny has once against unveiled the real ugly, anti-humanity face of these terrorist elements. Now, he added when the Government and the people were united and committed to eliminate them, these elements would never succeed in defeating our resolve and weakening our courage by resorting to such shameful acts. The terrorist would, very soon have to face their ultimate and exemplary end, he said.
The Governor expressed deep and heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for highest honour for the martyrs in their eternal abode. The Governor assured that the State of Pakistan would stand firmly with victims of the attack and their families and will compensate them and rehabilitate their shattered life.
