The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the Director General (DG) Anti-Corruption establishment Punjab to investigate into allegations of purchase of substandard machinery by emergency rescue service 1122 officials.

The court passed this order while setting aside order of additional sessions judge who declined to order registration of a criminal case against officials of rescue 1122 and imposed a fine of Rs 10000 on the petitioner Khalid Masood advocate.

The petitioner contended that three months ago, an incident took place in Kot Radha Kishen area when an overloaded van slipped into a drain and passengers were trapped inside. Contingent of Rescue 1122 quickly reached there and started rescue efforts but the people gathered there were shocked to notice that crane was not capable of even move the van which had the lifting capacity of more than 5 tonnes.
