Pakistan Tehreek-e-Isnaf's candidate Mian Hamid Meraj stood second with over 8007 votes followed by Jamaat-i-Islami's Hafiz Salman Butt who finished third. The PML-N was expecting huge turn out of voters but the votes polled were below their expectations. After end of voting, the PML-N workers gathered at main election office of Pervaiz Malik where sweets were distributed while full-throated slogans were shouted by the PML-N workers in favour of Sharif brothers.
This was the third consecutive win of the PML-N in the bye-elections. A large number of PML-N supporters gathered at the main election office of Pervaiz Malik where they celebrated the victory by dancing on drumbeats holding party flags and artificial tigers (election symbol) in their hands.
Addressing the emotionally charged PML-N workers, Pervaiz Malik said the victory is a prove of the fact that the PML-N is the most popular party of the country. He said the PML-N under leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif is waging a just struggle to steer the country out of prevailing crises. The PML-N workers from other parts of the city also rushed to the scene and celebrated victory of Pervaiz Malik.
The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has felicitated Pervaiz Malik over his victory from NA-123. The rival candidates of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Isnaf and Jamaat-i-Islami accused the Punjab government of using its machinery for rigging the bye-election of NA-123 Lahore. It may be noted that on a petition filed by Ilyas Gujjar one of candidates from NA-123 barred Election Commission from notifying the poll results without court verdict.
