The Karachi Branch Council (KBC) of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) has organised a seminar under the title "how to get hired" on Saturday. The purpose of the seminar is to highlight the significance of test interview during appointment process.

The speakers underlined standard procedures for preparation of test interview to get hired in any specific organisations. Addressing the members of the council, the guest speaker Chief Executive NHR Rahila Narejo has described standard of hiring procedures applied across the globe. She defined five steps for the preparation of interview test, which are perception, preposition, packaging, projection and persistence to get hired in any organisation.

She said the applicant should highlight the area of interest to develop a general perception and chose achievable goals for broadening the circle of his success. "The applicant should go for those job opportunities where he can enjoy during performing his duties and develop it as his passion or hobby," she said.

She said the applicants should look inside theirselves and search the expertise, which are not common in other applicants, who are also applying for the said post to create distinction. "The job seeker should accept all the challenges as the part of his job description and do not hesitate to accept any challenge," she added.

Talking about another important step during recruitment process, she said the applicant should have ability to introduce his brand at all channels. She said the job seeker should design the curriculum vitae according to the nature of the job and should visit in different organisations with changed resume.

She urged to specify the goals and ambitions, which are achieved or desired to be achieved in near future in a very simple, cleared and civilised manner for easy to understand for the interviewers. "The resume should be printed in a simple paper with attractive fonts and do not use slangs and clip art in the resume," she added.

According to the standard test interview procedures, the human resource officers judge the capability of the job seeker from his outlook. She said the applicant should visit the human resources department in a presentable position. She stressed upon a need to adopt a people-friendly attitude during the test interview.

She said the graduates and the job seekers should project themselves through an established network to introduce their brand at different channels. She said the candidate should be persistent and consider failure as a step towards success. Hamad Raza Chairman KBCA thanked Rahila Narejo and said the presentation of the guest speakers would be helpful for the branch members to avail job opportunities in different organisations.
