He said the management is moving into the right direction and as per un-audited results, PIA will be earning an operational profit after four years. He said that PIA does have accumulated losses and old debts, which it is trying to clear out. He said these losses were borne because of rupee devaluation and other factors. Captain Aijaz said that a visible change will start appearing in PIA with the launch of this package and more packages in coming days.
To a question, he said plans are there to add more aircraft to PIA fleet but priority will be given to replace the existing 737s initially and upgrade the A-310s to increase their life span for their further utilisation. He said the airline has improved with all the vendors as well as the banks. But, of course, issues are there. He said PIA would need pre-delivery payments while acquiring new aircraft, which only the government can help us out.
