After continuous efforts of 3 years and by the grace of Almighty Allah, the UDL, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Lahore, Pakistan, has received certificate of accreditation as a disease diagnostic testing laboratory from Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC), which has Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) with International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (ILAC) and Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (APLAC), said the spokesperson.
Now UDL, UVAS Lahore, is included in the list of disease diagnostic laboratories having equivalence status for testing laboratories all over the world, he added. It is a milestone in the history of UVAS and livestock sector of Pakistan that a veterinary disease diagnostic laboratory, both in veterinary and medical profession, got international recognition, and its results are acceptable world-wide.
The UDL is providing an array of diagnostic tests which are based on quality and cost effective testing to enhance the production potential of livestock and poultry in the country. The lab is equipped with modern diagnostic equipment, and highly qualified and trained staff. Also, the working environment of the lab is of international standard.
The laboratory is also providing a solid platform for research scholars and helping the public and private sector organisations and individuals in the development of human resources in the country, through need-based training modules. The lab has also implemented computer based "Diagnostic Information Management System (DIMS)" to ensure the good lab practices (GLP) and confidentiality of the client results.
Meanwhile, the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences is holding its undergraduate and postgraduate final term examinations online for all students at the university's city campus as well as Ravi Campus, Pattoki, simultaneously.
It is for the first time that the university's all teaching departments' students, who are appearing for their final term examinations, are appearing for their examinations simultaneously as the university administration has ensured availability of computers, for each candidate. The online examinations will continue till February 13. The university has ensured that the students appear for their online examinations in a peaceful environment as well as in a transparent manner
UVAS Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz had originally floated the idea to introduce online examinations, which was carried forwarded by Registrar Dr Kamran Ashraf, Director IT Rizwan, heads and directors of different departments of the university. The officials worked day in and day out to implement the online examinations as a project during the mid-term examinations.
The experience during the examinations was proved successful. The quality of conducting online examinations was being supervised by senior university officials, while all faculty members and students had shown their complete satisfaction with the new system of holding online examinations.
