Dubai-based Emirates Airline will resume its flights to and from Peshawar from February 2. An announcement of the airline said here on Saturday that passenger safety was a foremost concern for the international carrier and that those flights were discontinued primarily due to what was termed 'uncertainty in the area'.

Adil Al Ghaith, Vice President Pakistan and Afghanistan, said, 'Our flights to and from Peshawar were recently suspended and that regrettably posed some inconvenience to the area's travellers who had to be diverted to Islamabad.

"As of February, we are pleased to be able to resume our services in the city again as providing our customers there with the convenience of a direct service is of course a key priority", he added. It was further pointed out that Emirates' twice-weekly frequency to Peshawar would resume from February 2 much to the relief of many travellers to and from Peshawar.
