At least seven people were killed and 14 others injured in clash between two political groups over wall chalking during last 24 hours in Orangi Town, police said. Sources told Business Recorder that the groups fought a pitched battle over wall chalking in some areas of Orangi Town late Saturday night.

The sources said the workers of Awami National Party (ANP) were busy in wall chalking and mounting their party flags at Qasba Mor, Muslimabad No 2 near Shaheen Hotel in the jurisdiction of Orangi Police Station. As the activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement stopped them from doing so, the ANP workers got infuriated with the result intense firing started from both sides, sources said. Police sources claimed that the firing spread very rapidly in the area and at least seven people lost their lives besides 14 others injured.

According to police, Toti Khan, 20, son of Raiti Gul Khan, Rasool Khan son of Zamin Khan, Riaz Mohammad son of Saeed Khan, 18, and Muzaffar Alam son of Zafar Alam were killed and 17 people injured in Orangi Town. Tension still prevailed in Mominabad, Qasba and Banaras. Law enforcement agencies have to a greater extent controlled the situation in the area, sources said, adding that heavy contingent of LEAs started patrolling the area.
