US copper futures edged up from near seven-week lows early on Friday on the back of improved economic prospects after data showed the US economy grew at its fastest pace in more than six years. Benchmark copper for March delivery rose 1.35 cents to $3.1115 per lb by 9:51 am EST (1451 GMT) on the New York Mercantile Exchange's COMEX division.

Range extended down from $3.1540 to $3.0940, near prior day's low at $3.0915, which marked lowest level for March contract since December 10. COMEX estimated futures volume at 14,370 lots by 9 am.
