Participants at an international conference in Prague Friday acclaimed the identity-based multi-biometrics technology solutions, being provided by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra). The three-day conference on "The Future of Personal Identification" concluded at Capital City of Czech Republic.

The moot was held under the auspices of UK based Pira International, an expert in market sizing, strategic forecasting and assessing the impact of biometrics, RFID, Smart Card technology and trends. Nadra's e-government solutions are relevant to Europe. Central Eastern Europe, CIS and Russia should look at the success story of Nadra and learn how to collaborate with it as a strategic partner to develop similar solutions, said Mike Chamberlain, Chairman of Pira International.

"I think Tariq Malik, Deputy Chairman Nadra has advocated a very convincing case that National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has poised itself as a world leader in Asia and has a strong presence in the future of personal ID market, when we talk about strategic forecasts and analysis to 2014 trends," Chamberlain said. Nadra is definitely going to assert itself as a dominant Asian player in near future, he added.

In his address, Tariq Malik, Deputy Chairman Nadra said transparency and outreach in any financial inclusion, human development and women empowerment programmes is not possible without identity-based secure ID cards. He pointed that government's transparent and efficient handling of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) through Nadra's biometrics technology has restored the confidence.

Ambassador of Pakistan in Czech Republic Athar Mahmood said recognition of Nadra as the Asian leader by Central European State and a very impressive presentation by Tariq Malik will go a long way to open the business doors of Central European States, who are pursuing the Smart ID Cards project.

The conference was attended by Chairmen and CEOs of European civil registration departments and top-notch technology firms involved in Smart ID Cards and biometrics technology. Commercial Counsellor of Pakistan, Ms Nadia was also present on the occasion.
