Different areas of the country including the capital received the first shower of winter season breaking the long dry spell. The persistent dry spell had caused chest and throat diseases besides increasing pollution. However, the rains washed away dust and made the weather pleasant.

While the harsh chilly weather restrained visitors from coming to recreational spots especially in the evening when it became difficult to stand with low temperature in the open. Vendors and stall owners at public parks faced low sale as there were only few people left to serve customers due to lack of the visitors. Hundreds of visitors thronged Lake View park when the weather was fair and enjoyed till late evening," said Shakil Khan a vendor.
