The Swiss franc gave back some of the previous day's gains against the euro on Friday after it hit a fresh 10-month high on Thursday as Greece's fiscal woes and weak equities weighed on the single currency. The franc strengthened slightly against the dollar in early trading after overnight weakness on Wall Street sent the Dow Jones Industrials Average down 2 percent, its biggest one day drop since October.

The Swissie continued to flirt with levels against the euro at which the Swiss National Bank is seen potentially stepping in to buy euros, having spiralled to a high on Thursday of 1.467 francs per euro, its strongest since March 11.
