Pakistan's leading organisation in the field of formal education, The Citizens Foundation (TCF) has initiated a mentoring program for TCF 8th Class students. Recently, Rahbar concluded its fourth successful phase in Karachi at the Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre Auditorium, University of Karachi.

TCF Rahbar Programme, in Karachi, was held at 11 TCF Schools from October till December and involved 490 students of 8th Class and 144 volunteer mentors from different walks of life. In Lahore, the programme was conducted in three schools and involved more than 100 students and 45 volunteer mentors.

TCF Rahbar, a mentorship programme, is aimed at personal and intellectual development of young minds. Rahbar aims to provide positive role models to students who are at a crucial threshold, where they have to take decisions that shape their future. TCF Rahbar started from a pilot project in the Cowasjee Campus, Mauripur; Karachi in March 2008 and has now expanded to over 22 schools in Karachi and Lahore by December 2009. The programme is almost entirely led and owned by volunteers with nearly 300 mentors who have touched the lives of over a thousand TCF Students so far.

The programme is conducted on biannual basis with a streamlined process for volunteer recruitment and training. In each cycle, mentors participate in weekly sessions with their groups, held on Saturday mornings, over the course of two months. Interested individuals can contact Rahbar Team through the website www.thecitizensfoundation.org to participate in the programme. TCF is working to improve the standards and quality of education in Pakistan. As of August 2009, TCF has 600 purpose-built school units nation-wide in urban slums and rural areas, with an enrolment of more than 80,000 students.-PR
