He said that unemployment and inflation were increasing and small businesses and industries were being closed down due the load shedding of gas and electricity. "The investors are not investing, instead of they are transferring their investment out of the country," the PML-N leader added. He said that the prices of essential commodities had increased 100 per cent in the last two years.
"The price of sugar has increased from Rs 36 to 75 per kg, chili from Rs 95 to 140 per kg, pulse moong from Rs 36 to 100 per kg, pulse Maash form Rs 60 to 110 per kg, tea from Rs 280 to 480 per kg, eggs from 48 to 90 per dozen and milk from Rs 37 to 65 per liter," he said.
Ahsan said that the government should prepare a comprehensive plan and agenda for economic policy to stop price hike and present it in the National Assembly for discussion. He said that there was 2.5 per cent growth rate in Pakistan while it had reached eight per cent in neighbouring county India. "It is economic instability and we have to bring our growth rate equal to India. This economic growth rate has been stopped due to corruption in government departments," he claimed.
The PML-N leader said that there was no independent accountability law against the corruption in the country. "The government should bring accountability law in consultation with the opposition in the parliament for establishing independent department to hold corrupt officials accountable," he said.
"The foreign debt of the country will increase from $50 billion to $74 billion in next years while the value of rupee is decreasing day by day against dollar," he said. While answering to a question, Ahsan said that the country was facing various crises and it was being pushed to the constitutional crisis also.
"The complications are increasing due to non-implementation of the Supreme Court's judgement on NRO in letter and sprit," he said. He said that the government should not create hurdles in implementing apex court verdict on NRO. He said that the stance of the PML-N was very clear, as it believed in the rule of law. Answering to another question, Ahsan said that there was no conspiracy of pen against the government, in fact the government was under pressure due to its own policies and performance.
