He stated this during a visit to the site of under-construction terminal near Northern bypass. In a project briefing on the occasion EDO Transport Shabihal Hasnain informed the Nazim that over 70 percent work has completed on this terminal where a CNG filling station is also being set-up along with modern facilities.
Mustafa Kamal said that city government has worked speedily to provide quality transport facilities to Karachiites, particularly Orangi Town. He said Rs 140 million have been paid for these 25 CNG buses and will be delivered to City Government this week.
He said that a new rout-III has been approved for these buses. The route starting from near Northern bypass will have Shahrah Qadafi, Shahrah Orangi, Banaras Chowk, two Board offices in North would be linked to the route. He said this route will extend from Liaquatabad, Hasan Square, Preedy Street, Sea Breeze Saddar to Clifton and thus entire city from coast to Northern Bypass will get connected through this route.
Nazim said this route will have link with the other route at Liaquatabad so that people going to Landhi, Korangi could travel in other CNG Bus from Liaquatabad. He said that Daewoo CNG buses have failed in their operation and 11 out of 25 buses have gone out of order as their brake kits get heated.
He said for future, ban has been imposed on procuring CNG buses from Daewoo. However, Hino Buses have proved successful and in future only Hino buses will be purchased and present 25 buses are also being procured from Hino. He said that eleven out of order buses have again been made operational after getting them repaired from Daewoo which has guaranteed their repair in case these goes faulty.
