Two people were killed and six others injured when violence broke out in different parts of the city late Wednesday night. The unidentified armed men torched four vehicles including rickshaw, truck and two cars in different parts of the metropolis. The angry mob paraded the streets and blocked vehicular movement in Sohrab Goth, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Sherpao Colony and other localities.

According to police, unknown armed men opened fire at the office of a construction company situated in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 19, killing Zareen Khan and injuring Wali Muhammad. The victims were shifted to a private hospital. Sources in Shahra-e-Faisal police station said initial investigation suggests that it was a business dispute; however, an inquiry is under way in this regard. Two more people namely Sheereen Khan and Hakeem Saeed were targeted and injured by unknown armed men in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Block 19.

The incident sparked heavy firing by miscreants, forcing the shops to pull down their shutters. A heavy contingent of police was deployed in the affected areas to maintain law and order situation. Some enraged people set ablaze a truck, two cars and one motorcycle at Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Jauhar Chowrangi. One unidentified youth was killed during violence.

Reports of firing also came from Abul Hasan Ispahani Road, Nipa Chowrangi, Sherpao Colony, Hasan Square, Essa Nagri, Landhi, University Road, Sohrab Goth and other areas. Enraged people also pelted the vehicles with stones on Super Highway, which suspended the inter-provincial vehicular movement.
