The Assembly session chaired by Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal offered feteha for the demise mothers of MPA Sardar Hussain Dogar, Dr Asid, Asif Bhaggat, Chaudhry Shafiq, Majida Zaidi, and Ex. MPA Ghulam Shabbir Joya on the occasion. In the session the Chair named Khawja Muhammad Aslam, Syed Hassan Murtaza, Mahmooda Cheema, Malik Iqbal Khan in the Panel of Chairman for the sixteenth session.
In the House Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Minister for Jails answering queries said there were 694 females in Punjab jails at present. He averred that 116 females had 127 children with them in the Punjab jails. The minister pointed that in the previous Punjab government task force was established for jails chaired by Syeda Majida Zaidi.
The minister on a question by a legislator dilated that in Central Jail Lahore there were 151 women prisoners and 17 of them were with 22 children of theirs. Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor on a question by MPA Amina Jhangir said that the present government had also formed a task force under the supervision of Justice Khalil-u-Rehman Ramday. He said due to inflation, budget of jails had been increased to Rs 733,932,000. The minister gave information on various riots in the jails during the year in the session. Punjab Assembly Session was adjourned for Thursday 10am later by the Chair due to failure of sound system.
