Purpose of the activity was to reinforce the importance of discipline and add value to the quality to the student's life of the school by providing necessary school decorum. Speaking on the occasion, Heinrich O.E. Birr said that education is not an easy privilege to achieve, especially when someone has hardship to seek basic necessities like food and shelter every day.
Keeping this in view, the organisation has taken a decision to donate and help underprivileged students from the platform of Metro Cash and Carry International, he added. He said the group started with the infrastructure, like building of the school premises and then provided uniforms and furniture to the students to highlight the importance of education. "It is just the beginning of a long journey to fulfil corporate social responsibility," he pledged.
Addressing the participants, Managing Director, Metro Cash and Carry Pakistan, Giovanni Soranzo said the group always tried to share the burden of the government by fulfilling its corporate social responsibility towards the host country and Government Boys Primary School, Madhu Goth is among such educational projects.
He said the group has started its journey of contribution by providing uniforms and necessary school furniture to more than 500 underprivileged children. He hoped the donation would be helpful to improve living standards of children and building a strong future," the managing director said.
However, Sindh Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazharul Haq, chief guest of the ceremony, could not participate in the programme even after prolonged delay of three hours. Secretary Education Siddique Memon, EDO Education Karachi Ibrahim Kumber and representatives of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town administration were also present.
