Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Farooq Sattar has said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) have in principle agreed to resolve the local government issue through negotiations. Talking to a private TV news channel on Tuesday, he said the both parties have realised that the issue needs mutual consultations and consensus on its working before finalising anything on the subject.

The chief minister has said, he added, that he would be consulting the Sindh Governor on the issue of local government besides periodical review of the law and order situation, he added. Farooq Sattar maintained that both the parties have decided to hold a review meeting on law and order after every 15 days. Such regular contact would clear the confusion on both sides and help develop consensus among the coalition partners. Referring to the Ashura tragedy and Liyari operation, he said the regular meeting would also help check such incident in future and would contribute in ensuring good governance in the province.
