The Lahore High Court here on Monday allowed an application of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and vacated stay earlier granted against demolishing of two commercial plazas in PIA Housing Society. The court, however, directed the plazas' owners to move Supreme Court if they had any grievance against LDA as the matter was being heard by the august court.

Plazas' owners in their petitions had submitted that the PIA housing society did not fall under the jurisdiction of LDA but the authority started demolishing their plazas in the light of Supreme Court's order against illegally constructed buildings in the city.

On the other hand, the LDA through its counsel had pleaded that both the plazas were built in violation of prescribed rules and their demolition would be in the interest of public safety. LDA had requested the court to vacate stay order and allow it to raze down both plazas.
