This large participation of Pakistan in Heimtextil, Frankfurt, communicated positive signals all over Germany and Europe. Heimtextil is the largest trade fair of the textile goods in the world. It is held in an area of approximately 280,000 sq meters and is visited by around 100,000 people from all over the world. There were 3300 Exhibitors, from 75 different countries this year.
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) supported the participation of 51 exhibitors and the rest participated directly. Beautifully designed, green coloured TDAP stands were located in three halls with Pakistan flag visible from every where. In addition, a show stand was constructed at the main entrance with traditional Pakistani colours.
Flyers and brochures regarding Pakistan were distributed at all the entry points of the fair ground. These marketing efforts served to increase the flow of visitors towards Pakistan Pavilion. The exhibitors made good business contacts and were optimistic to earn good foreign exchange for the country. Most of the Pakistani exhibitors specially the small & medium sized exporters termed it a success and wished to participate again next year.
Shaid Kamal, Ambassador of Pakistan in Germany and G.R Malik, Consul General, Frankfurt, visited the fair. They talked with all the exhibitors individually and also met with the representatives of various textile associations. The problems being faced by the textile Industry in Pakistan were also raised by some exhibitors.
Ambassador Shahid Kamal however, expressed the need of R&D, to develop new products, which are natural and eco friendly. He appreciated the efforts of the TDAP in making participation of Pakistani exhibitors meaning full. He, however, stressed that the new exhibitors selected by the TDAP, should be trained before they participate in any trade fair in Europe. Later in the evening, the Ambassador hosted a reception in honour of all the exhibitors from Pakistan.-PR
