A high-level 22-member Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) delegation on Saturday left for 9-day visit to Kenya and South Africa to explore new business avenues and enhance two-way trade. The delegation headed by LCCI Executive Committee member Dr Shahid Raza would have joint and one-to-one meetings at various chambers and trade organisations in Kenya and South Africa.

The delegation would also meet different personalities of both countries to highlight the positive image of the country so that the flow of Foreign Direct Investment could get a boost in real terms. In the first phase of visit the delegation would meet High Commissioner/Commercial Counsellor of Pakistan in Nairobi. The delegation would also visit Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and have meetings with their Kenyan counterparts.

In next phase, the delegation would meet Pakistani High Commissioners in Pretoria and South Africa and also attend lunch hosted Dr Moin-ud-Din Ahmad Wani, Commercial Secretary, Trade Commission of Pakistan, Johannesburg. A meeting is also expected with Attorney Asharf Essop in which issues of investment, immigration and work permits. The delegation would also visit Johannesburg Office of the Minara Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The members of the LCCI delegation would also meet Yunus Hossen, Director, Trade and Investment Promotion South Africa. They would have one-to-one meeting with Muslim businessmen. They would visit the office of Deputy High Commissioner of South Africa and get back to Pakistan on January 24.

Meanwhile, the LCCI President Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry and Senior Vice President Ejaz A. Mumtaz said that the visit of the LCCI delegation would further strengthen Pakistan's trade relations with Kenya and South Africa and they would be able to initiate joint ventures with their counterparts.
