The Federal Board of Revenue has decided to allocate National Tax Numbers (NTNs) to 150,749 employees in public and private sector organisations, where Computerised National Identity Card Numbers (CNICs) information of National and Database Registration Authority (Nadra) matches with the FBR data. Sources told Business Recorder here on Monday the exercise of broadening the tax base in 2010 has been launched.

The CNICs of employees have been verified through analysis of employers' statements. The employers have to file annual statement with CNICs/NTNs of employees.
