The talks between foreign secretaries of Pakistan and India began in Sharm el Sheikh late Tuesday night, Aaj TV reported. Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir was assisted by Pakistan's Ambassador to India, Shahid Malik in the talks. Kashmir issue, supply of weapons to militants in Malakand, Baglihar and Kishan Ganga dams came under discussion. Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon led the Indian side.

Earlier, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir said, "we will participate in talks with India with an open mind. We want to resolve all issues with India including the Kashmir issue through dialogue." He was talking to media after reaching Sharm el Sheikh in a special plane along with Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. Bashir further said that water issue would also be discussed in the meeting. He said that relations between the two countries can be strengthened through dialogue.

Reuters adds: Indian Foreign Minister S M Krishna declined to elaborate on what his prime minister, Manmohan Singh, would discuss with Gilani. "Let us wait for the outcome of that crucial meeting," Krishna told reporters here.
