Custodian of Baghar Sharif, Kahuta Sahibzada Allama Sajid-ur-Rehman led the funeral prayer, which was attended by a large number of political, social and religious personalities besides hundreds of thousands of his followers from across the country and abroad. Special traffic and security arrangements had been made to facilitate people coming from far-flung areas.
Pir Naseeruddin Naseer Gilani breathed his last here on Friday after cardiac arrest. He was 65. He was a great religious scholar, renowned poet and author of almost 36 books on Islam, the Quran and Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) including 'Lafz-e Allah ki Tahqiq', Quran Majid key Aadab-e Tilawat', Mawazna-e Ilm-o Karamat,' 'Kia Iblees Alim Tha,' 'Pakistan men Zalzala ki Tabah Karian,' and Musalmano k Arooj-o Zawal k Asbaab.'
Mysticism was his field of specialisation with regard to research in history and religion. Thousands of the devotees and followers of Pir Naseer used to visit Golra shrine for guidance and spirituality, particularly on the annual Urs of Pir Naseer's ancestors. Pir Naseeruddin Shah was the grand son of Pir Mehar Ali Shah (known as Pir of Golra Sharif).
He was the son of late Hazrat Pir Syed Ghulam Muinuddin Gilani, known as Elder Lalajee. Elder Lalajee had inherited three sons Hazrat Babuji (R.A) named them "Ghulam Naseeruddin", "Ghulam Jalaluddin", and "Ghulam Hissamuddin. Pir Ghulam Moinuddin died on 11th May 1937 (29th of Safar 1356) and at that time, Elder Lalajee was of 17 years and Lalajee was of 11 years of age. His services as scholar as well as preacher of Islam would always be remembered.
