Changing its stand, India now demanded fair and transparent trial of "fugitives" in Pakistan. "It would be ideal, if they (Pakistan) can hand over the fugitives to us. If this is not possible, there should at least be fair trial of these fugitives in Pakistan. It should not be a mock trial. It should be transparent and demonstrated," Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in an interview with an Indian news Channel.

He hoped Pakistan would abide by the international and Saarc conventions on terrorism. Mukherjee demanded to take action against perpetrators of Mumbai terror attacks. UK has already supported Pakistan's stand for trial of terrorists, if found guilty in Pakistan.
