Deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has left for the US here early Sunday morning for his first ever abroad visit after the day he was removed from the office by former President Pervez Musharraf, last year. Chaudhry was given a warm send-off at Benazir International Airport by the legal fraternity and the civil society.

Special security arrangements were made to escort Chaudhry form his residence to the airport by the administration. Enthusiastic lawyers resorted to throat splitting sloganeering in favoput of the CJP and the lawyers' movement at the airport while seeing off Iftikhar.

The government issued diplomatic passport to Chaudhry and he will also be given a protocol of Chief Justice by Pakistan embassy in the US. Briefing the newsmen about deposed CJ's schedule in US, Ali Ahmed Kurd, president Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) said that Pakistani community in New York will also give a grand dinner in honour of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

Afterwards, Haward Law School will award 'Medal of Freedom' to Iftikhar Chaudhry in New York on November 19, which has been awarded to only two personalities in the 360 years history of the School. Chaudhry would also be given a life time membership of New York Bar Association. Earlier, Malaysia had invited the deposed CJ to participate in a conference, however, he excused but had sent his video message for the conference.
