The government has appointed Saudi Pak Bank chief Shaukat Tareen as Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance with a status of federal minister. The notification of his appointment is expected to be issued here on Wednesday. Shaukat Tareen will also perform additional duties of chairing ECC and Ecnec meetings. Shaukat Tarin held a meeting with Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

Shaukat Tareen enjoys good reputation as banker. However, as an Advisor on Finance especially at a time when Pakistan is confronted with severe financial crisis, would be challenging task for him.
