The government on Friday issued yet another notification for re-appointment of four deposed judges in the Supreme Court, including elevation of two former judges of Sindh High Court (SHC) as judges of the Supreme Court. These judges are Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan and Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani.

Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan and Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk are former Supreme Court judges, whereas Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani were deposed from the SHC on November 3, last year. The oath to these judges would be administered by Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar on Saturday.

The notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice said that "the President has re-appointed four judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan with effect from the date of their oath taking of offices".

Earlier in the day, the Federal Law and Justice Minister, Farooq H Naek, said that the government would welcome all those judges who intended to rejoin their offices without any discrimination.

He said: "We have offered the legal community to enter dialogue to address judicial crisis as this intricate matter could not be resolved through the use of force and staging protest demonstrations." But the 'legal community' is of the view that judges who took fresh oath had actually validated unconstitutional steps taken by President Pervez Musharraf.
