The ten-day training course, starting from August 12 would be attended by 20 participants from gems and jewellery sector. Ilyas Shah, a gemologist of PGJDC, and Dr Tehseen, from Geoscience Laboratories, are conducting this training course. Chitral training programme would focus on "Gemstone Faceting" and "Gemstone Carving". The course is being held at Gems Cutting Centre, Chitral and it would continue for three weeks. Such a training course is being conducted for the first time in Chitral, Northern Areas of Pakistan.
The Gemstone Faceting course which is being attended by 8 participants is being supervised by Zia Ur Rehman, who holds a bachelor degree with one year training of Gem Cutting. The participants will receive the first hand knowledge of gems cutting and polishing through faceting machines.
Rehman is sharing his knowledge, which he gained from a previous training session on Gemstone Polishing and Finishing, conducted by Sri Lankan experts and organised by PGJDC at GGIP. The course features include, how to solve the issue related to more thickness of stone, how to make accurate stone like daubing, how to correctly use Trim Saw, how to use diamond powder for polishing with copper laps, etc. -PR
