President Pervez Musharraf Saturday continued to hold consultations with the constitutional experts on the issue of his impeachment, Aaj TV reported on Saturday. According to the channel, the President on the occasion said he would not step down, and instead, fight the impeachment move.

Reports said he held detailed meetings separately with the constitutional experts Sharifuddin Pirzada and Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum today. President discussed various constitutional options available to him in case the ruling coalition goes ahead with impeachment. The experts briefed the President in detail about the options available to him in case of the impeachment and also about his constitutional rights.

The President was informed that once the impeachment proceedings get initiated he would not be able to challenge it in any court of law, the channel added. The channel also claimed that President Musharraf termed as baseless all the statements being made in the media about his resignation and said that he would face the impeachment move and make his position clear on the allegations levelled against him in the charge sheet.

Meanwhile NNI adds that President Pervez Musharraf has made it clear that he has no intention to resign. Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum was quoted as saying that President Pervez Musharraf is determined to counter the allegation levelled by the coalition partners in the charge sheet.
