Vice president of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Sindh chapter, Tariq Khan on Friday night was gunned down by unknown assailants on Shaheed-e-Millat Road in the jurisdiction of Ferozabad police station.

The police sources said that two unidentified gunmen riding on motorcycle sprayed his car (PC-9397) with bullets, leaving him in critical condition, who was later rushed to Jinnah Post Medical Centre (JPMC) where he succumbed to his bullet injuries.

They said that Tariq Khan, who had been associated with the PML-N for years, received over eight bullets on his torso. After the official announcement of his death, markets were closed and a wave of violence engulfed the city.

APP ADDS: The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Dr Shoaib Suddle has formed three teams of police to investigate the killing of Tariq Khan. This was stated by a spokesman of Sindh Police here on Friday. He said the three teams would be led by DIG East A.D. Khawaja, DIG Investigation Karachi, Ghulam Qadir Thebo and DIG CID, Saud Ahmed Mirza respectively.

The investigation teams have been directed to ascertain the motives of the killing and complete the investigation at the earliest. The IGP Sindh has also appealed to PML(N) office bearers and workers as well as the people to extend assistance in the probe. He said the names of those providing any information would be kept secret. A sum of Rs one million would be awarded to those assisting in the investigation, it was further stated.
