Descon signed a contract with TransAsia Refinery Limited (TRL), here on Monday at Descon Headquarters Lahore. The contract was signed between MI) & CEO Descon Engineering Limited Sheikh Azhar Ali and CEO TransAsia Refinery Limited Muhammad Salim. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Chairman Descon Razak Dawood and other senior officials from both companies.

On the occasion, Sheikh Azhar Ali said, "I am confident that Descon will continue its growth and evolve to meet the needs of the nation in the engineering sector." He further said, "the most efficient organisational structure together with systems, processes and resources that are both robust and scaleable will provide every customer the support they need to make their dreams turn into reality with the most optimum cost and schedule solutions."

By bringing in foreign direct investment (FDI) of approximately $500 million, the project is a significant move towards the development in the oil and gas sector The 100,000 barrel/day refinery has to be relocated from Naples, Italy to Port Qasim, Karachi.

The scope of services provided by Descon includes; outside battery limits [OSBL] construction, products & utilities pipelines design and construction, crude and export products storage/handling facilities design and construction, utilities and off-sites construction. The project is scheduled to reach its completion by April, 2010. Descon's total contribution to the Oil refining sector exceeds 500,000 barrels per day.-PR
